Dean Baker - It's Here to Stay / Mixed Emotions

1. It's Here to Stay
2. Mixed Emotions

This release is a first for Dean Baker, but it’s vintage house from a dancefloor veteran who’s gained a thing or two from his 20 plus years as a DJ in the north of England. A tireless promoter in his home town of Grimsby, Dean’s passion and dedication to the scene brim over out of these two infectiously engrossing deep, soulful and percussive tracks. It’s house music at its purest, a true delight to hear.

1. ‘It’s here to stay’ – It’s got soul; it’s got funk; it’s got swing; it’s got depth; it’s even got trumpets – rare on a UT record – it’s the dog’s dangly bits and we love it! Gentle yet rousing, subtle but effective, let it play on.

2. ‘Mixed emotions’ – Picked up plaudits from a host of DJs following its inclusion on our Miami sampler last year. The warm chords, heavy drops and perky tempo make it easy to see why. A magnanimous tune that keeps on giving.

Grimsby’s Dean Baker was first drawn into music by the sounds of early electro and hip-hop in 1983. Since then his passion for electronic music has never waned. Now investing in his production skills, Dean has plenty to offer following over 20 years of promoting parties and DJing. A wise head who still knows how to get feet a-shuffling, Dean’s commitment to house music flows through into his production. On his first release, ‘It’s here to stay / Mixed Emotions’ he’s turned-out house music that hasn’t forgotten its soul. More of that please!
