Renaissance seem to be launching a new compilation series every other month these days but summer sees the progressive house stable cough up the first of the sequels. The label has called on three-piece electronic outfit Faithless to compile the second edition of its '3D' series.

Launched in January this year by Japanese progressive house DJ and producer Satoshi Tomiie, the '3D' series is a triple CD compilation which aims to present the three musical personalities of an artist: the producer, the DJ and the home listener.

Faithless are the self-described "trip hop and dance" band consisting of vocalist Maxi Jazz, DJ/producer Sister Bliss and producer Rollo. The trio first discovered a knack for keeping people awake in the small hours of the night back in 1995 with the commercial crossover dance anthem 'Insomnia'. Since then the band have notched up four albums and a triple platinum selling Greatest Hits compilation. At the end of 2005 rumours surfaced that the trio were splitting up but these have since been thwarted by news of a fifth album and headlining summer festival dates.

On 'Renaissance presents 3D - Faithless', the first disc sees the band present a selection of original cuts and remixes from their decade-long career. Disc Two is the club mix that brings together current big names in house, techno, progressive house and electrohouse including Coburn, Deep Dish, Way Out West's Jody Wisternoff and Kompakt's Oxia and Kaito. Disc Three sees the band leaving the dancefloor behind for the armchair comforts of the living room.

tsja.. die cd twee club cd zitten paar leuke nummers tussen maar ook allerlei flauwekul. en cd 1 moet ik ong eens goed luisteren maar ik heb die nummers al allemaal zo vaak gehoord. geloof niet dat t iets is wat ik veel vaker zal opzetten. Eigenlijk is de cover vetter dan de cd

Ik heb de eerste cd geluisterd (samen met Snuggle). De remixen van de oude/bekende nr's zijn zo vaag dat je ze bijna niet meer terug herkent. Het tempo ligt wel erg laag, en persoonlijk vond ik het klinken als een slechte deephouse-cd. Saai en al jaren achterhaald.

Leuk voor de verzamelaar misschien, maar ik vind het niks.

De andere twee cd's moet ik uiteraard nog luisteren. Hoop dat deze echt stukken beter zijn, anders is dit het laatste album wat ik van faithless heb gedraaid.

Heb een report moeten schrijven voor Flock, en heb de cd dus aandachtig geluisterd.
CD2 is aardig, de rest is ruk.

Ik vind alle 3 de Cd's dikke thumps down. Wat een pulp zeg.

ja aardig zeg je he, maar eigenlijk is het natuurlijk ook meuk, er staan een paar nrs op die een half jaar geleden cool waren op id&t radio. Dat kun je natuurlijk niet maken om die nog op een cd uit te brengen. Wij zijn verder ook wel verwende kinderen, maargoed het is wel zo.

De enige die wel aardig is, is CD2. CD3 heb ik gelijkt getrasht en CD1 is een ernstige twijfel...
